Historic, highly sought-after community near Downtown and Midtown
Immediately east of Midtown, you’ll find the charming and highly walkable Virginia-Highland neighborhood. Lined with historic homes, highly-rated restaurants and bars, and beautiful landscaping, this community has it all. Virginia-Highland is just under three miles away from Downtown Atlanta and a mere 1.4 miles to Midtown.
The vast majority of Virginia-Highland is residential. However, along North Highland Avenue Northeast, you’ll find a heavy concentration of stores, bars, cafes, and restaurants. Unlike the big-city atmosphere of neighboring communities, this commercial district has a distinctly small-town vibe. Strolling through this area feels as though you are on Main Street in any quaint American town. It’s hard to believe that towering skyscrapers are located just minutes away.
When browsing available properties, you’ll be able to select between single-family houses, condo units, and townhomes. Like several other nearby neighborhoods, there is a delightful blend of architectural styles, including ranch-style and American Craftsman. Properties typically run from the mid-$600s to near $2 million. Efficient condo units often sell for much less (starting in the mid-$200s).

Both sides of the Virginia-Highland neighborhood provide easy access to favorite shops and restaurants.
On the western side of town, you’ll find an abundance of conveniently located national retailers. Check off everything on your to-do list at PetSmart, Trader Joe’s, The Home Depot, Whole Foods Market, GNC, and T.J. Maxx. Heading to the eastern side of Virginia-Highland, you can check out the latest arrivals at locally-owned stores, such as Urban Cottage Inc., Little Barn Apothecary, and Virginia Highland Books.
Things to Do
Virginia-Highland is surrounded by many of Atlanta’s top attractions. Not only can you quickly and easily get to local festivals and events, but you can also enjoy year-round establishments just minutes away.
In and around the neighborhood, you can plan a relaxing day at one of the area’s numerous parks. Orme Park, John C. Howell Park, and the Atlanta East Beltline Trail are all located within the community. Venturing just outside of Virginia-Highland, you can spend the day at the incredibly popular Piedmont Park. On park grounds, you can also tour the 30-acre Atlanta Botanical Garden.
Piedmont Park is also home to several other notable spots. Need to get your fur baby some exercise? Take them to the highly-rated Piedmont Dog Park, where they can enjoy three acres of off-leash action. During the summer months, cool off at Piedmont Park Aquatic Center, which features four lap lanes and beach entry.
